I believe in our infinite capacity to heal and grow through life’s challenges and that I may be able to help you in that process. As an integrative counsellor my approach is both person-centred and able to draw on other approaches that recognise the uniqueness of yourself and your personal circumstances.
As a holistic integrative counsellor my approach is centred on you. It allows me to draw on other approaches that recognise the uniqueness of yourself and your personal circumstances. We can work together to help you explore the issues that are affecting you and help you find your own answers to cope better with your problems.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP membership number 418530). I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and I have regular supervision. I have an enhanced DBS Certificate.
There are many reasons why people consider professional counselling. Sometimes clearly defined and sometimes not. I work across all issues and among others I have a particular interest in anxiety, including health and death anxiety; trauma including intergenerational trauma; long-term and acute ill-health including stroke, cancer, CFS and pain; menopause and mid-life challenges: neurodiversity including OCD; relationships, ageing, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss.

Perhaps it is helpful to start with what counselling is not. It is not about my giving you advice or making decisions for you. However, it is about my supporting you to look at feelings, emotions, patterns of thinking and behaviour and supporting you to find alternative options and coping strategies. You are the expert in your own life. You might talk about what is concerning you in the here and now, or look back at relationships, childhood or other events and experiences.
It is completely normal to have questions and maybe anxieties about embarking on a series of counselling sessions. You're not alone if so, and maybe some of your questions have been asked before.
